A Treating Source Will Ge Asked To Provide Information

If you are filing for disability benefits, as a claimant, then your treating source will be asked to provide information about your condition to the Social Security Administration (SSA) which will be used in determining your eligibility for Social Security Benefits.

Your treating source is your medical physician, psychologist, or other acceptable trained medical source who has rendered professional treatment or evaluation to you.  When you are filing for disability and SSA cannot make a determination as to whether or not you are disabled by the initial evidence, and an additional examination is needed, your own physician is the best source.
