There are requirements that need to be met to become an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant. A course of study for that program has to be completed and acceptance into the program is the first step. There are many fine schools that offer the Expanded Duty Dental Assistant program. Some are located in Philadelphia, Seattle, Tampa, and several in the state of California. The acceptance process is divided into two parts: Preliminary and Final Acceptance. Requirements for Preliminary Acceptance are application fee, official high school and college transcripts, minimum placement test scores, and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. After Preliminary Acceptance is granted there is a two month period to complete the requirements for Final Acceptance. The requirements include a non-refundable tuition deposit, orientation session, and five hours of observation in a private dental office. Remember that the dental and medical fields are always growing. No matter how bad the econony, there will always be a need for people to fill these positions.
