In fact, cancer of the bone is a very rare type of cancer to have. Mostly affecting young Caucasian males between the ages of ten to 20 years of age, this cancer comes in three separate types and is graded on a scale of 1-4 stage just like any other malignant cancer. Osteosarcoma affects the tissue inside of the growing bone. Chondrosarcoma is a cancer that begins in the cartilage of the bone and Ewing’s Sarcoma begins in bone marrow that is still maturing in a young patient. While Osteosarcoma and Ewing’s Sarcoma are most commonly found in children and young adults, Chondrosarcoma is more common in adults over the age of fifty years old.
